The return to in-person education cannot wait.

This document argues the urgent need to reopen schools safely, prioritizing the education of children and young people. Although the pandemic has imposed sacrifices, such as business closures and restrictions, the greatest costs are being paid by students, with learning losses and mental health issues. It highlights that the risks of infection in schools are relatively low, especially for younger children, and that many regions have infection rates that would allow for the safe implementation of in-person education. Concrete measures are proposed to create safe environments in classrooms, with an emphasis on supporting teachers and recovering the learning lost during virtual education. In conclusion, the document calls for urgent action to ensure the safe return to in-person classes, with the backing of the Ministry of Education, parents, and the community at large.
